Rotaract 5160 District RetreatSaturday, April 28th, 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM @ UC Berkeley (Meet at the MU Tennis Courts)

Sure, the fog will be thick, the challenges great, and the stakes high, but get ready to use every bit of your brute strength and sharp cleverness as we tackle what it means to be a Rotaractor in District 5160.  This 5-hour Hunger Games-themed mini-retreat is an opportunity for Rotaractors to network, meet the rest of their Rotary family and do service while having fun!  There will be guest speakers and leadership development workshops, but, like last year, we will end the afternoon with an intensive inter-club competition, so please dress comfortably!  May Rotaract be ever in your favor!  Registration costs $5 and includes lunch.

Freakin’ Awesome Friday: Baby PaksFriday, April 20th, 4:00-6:00 PM @ Student Community Center

Help us begin to plan for our Baby Paks project supporting mothers in South America!  This week, we will continue to sew the baby caps that we started last week!

Grand Fondo

Saturday, May 5th, 4:00 – 6:30 PM @ Bicycle Hall of Fame near Central Park

Sunday, May 6th, 6:30 AM – 4:30 PM @ @ Bicycle Hall of Fame near Central Park

Shifts from [6:30-10:30 AM (four volunteers), 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (four volunteers), 1:00-5:00 PM (five volunteers)]

On Saturday, we need six volunteers to meet with the Gran Fondo support team at the Bicycle Hall of Fame to assist with the loading of gear and supplies from the trucks into individual vehicles. On Sunday, we need six to eight people on site at Central Park at all time to maintain the secure bicycle parking area and provide karma patrol for central park.

Want to host an Interactor for a night and have them shadow your every action as a college student?  This is an Interactor Sleepover event where we will be giving tips and guidance about what it’s like to be in Rotaract.  Please e-mail Service if you can host Interactors or would like to volunteer.

Rotary BBQ – Saturday, May 19th, 2:30-9:00 PM @ Central Park

Help the Rotary Clubs of Davis with their annual barbecue supporting child abuse prevention programs. This event will be a lot of fun!

Downtown SocialFriday, April 27th, 7:30 PM @ Meet at the Davis Commons

Come socialize with Rotaractors for a tasty dinner at Davis Commons!  We will be meeting there at around 7:30 PM to eat and perhaps venture into downtown for a nice stroll or movie.  Hope to see you all there!

San Francisco Trip – Saturday, May 12th, 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM @ San Francisco, CA (Meet at the MU Tennis Courts)

Come join Rotaractors as we embark on our annual trip to San Francisco! We will be driving around and visiting some of the city’s greatest sightseeing spots like the Golden Gate Bridge, Pier 39, Ocean Beach and Twin Peaks. Other options are being considered as well! Bring money for lunch. Stay tuned for more updates in the coming weeks.

The Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth is seeking enthusiastic instructors and teaching assistants for summer programs for gifted elementary, middle and high school students. The programs will focus on concepts very closely related to math, physics, and engineering.

This program is provided by the UC Center Sacramento. Learn about what it takes to be a successful journalist, and gain first-hand knowledge of California’s public policy challenges and processes! This is open to students of all majors across the University of California, and is offered every term and in the summer (Journalism is only offered in the summer).

International Project: Make Agent Orange History

We will be supporting non-governmental agencies who help fund early detection, prevention and education for the disabled. They also provide critical services to the poorest disabled children in Vietnam, including those affected by exposure to Agent Orange/dioxin. In addition, these agencies provide direct assistance to help those affected find jobs, attend school, and attain prosthetic devices
